Reliance Globalcom Deploys Next-Generation IPv6 on its Global IP Backbone
IPv6 enables new IP applications for global business delivering enhanced security, scalability and mobility.
Mumbai - November 22, 2010 - Reliance Globalcom, the leading global provider of managed network and communication services for multinational enterprises, carriers and service providers, announces the launch of the next generation Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) feature as an enhancement to its IP Transit product portfolio, available in key business markets around the globe.
With IPv4 address availability expected to exhaust by late 2011, IPv6 with its substantial address space of 128 bits as compared to 32 bits in IPv4 will provide virtually unlimited IP addresses for the future, expanding the number of possible addresses from approximately 4 billion with IPv4 to roughly 340 trillion trillion trillion(i.e. 340 undecillion) with IPv6 . With the proliferation of future smart internet-enabled devices that require unique IP addresses, IPv6 will accommodate the growing demand for address spaces, to support various network-enabled applications and services providing end-to-end connectivity for real time applications like VoIP, e-learning, video broadcast, interactive games, etc. In addition to new IP applications IPv6 also enables, improved network configuration, security, scalability, mobility, enhanced administration and manageability for global organisations.
Reliance Globalcom’s IP Transit service is delivered on its highly resilient and scalable private, low latency and low packet loss fibre-optic network, providing connectivity between key business markets, with presence in all major Internet exchanges around the globe. The company also has extensive public and private peering arrangements supporting both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic, with leading Internet service providers and content providers at multiple locations. The service provides access to the regional content with optimal and consistent performance, offering enhanced flexibility for customers to migrate to IPv6. Increasingly governments are now also imposing mandates on many Internet Service Providers to be fully IPv6 compliant - a capability Reliance Globalcom is providing right now for many of its customers.
“The rapidly increasing number of users, applications and smart devices are driving a massive demand for unique global IP addresses. IPv6 adoption empowers our carrier partners to support various network-enabled real time applications and multimedia services for their customers. Our IPv6 transit services are ready to enable our partners to take the next step into the future and facilitate business growth without borders.” said Punit Garg, President & CEO, Reliance Globalcom.
